What It Is: an excerpt from Mamoru Iwasa's first CODE GEASS: Lelouch of the Rebellion novel, Stage 0. A tiny little flashback Lelouch has to a certain night.

—There had been rain.

"Lelouch. I..."

A dark, terrible rain that had begun to blot out the night sky.

"I... no."

One hand had clutched at his chest. A trembling hand. A hand numb from the cold.

A frozen hand...

"I...¹"

He spat the word out like he was coughing up blood. Like he was ripping out his own heart.

Or seeking comfort he would never be afforded.

"I — I'm not... gonna use my strength for my own sake again, not ever..."

There had been rain.

A dark, terrible rain that had begun to blot out the night sky.

And him...

...it had begun to blot him out, too.

"I can't, Lelouch..."


—It had been that night, probably, that a part of him had died.

so, given that there will be only a new chapter for Re; this week, you think by that time you could also translate the 2 chapters from "Lancelot & Guren"; the second part of ch 4 of Kallen's side, and the first part of ch 5 of Suzaku's which exaplins more on how Schnizel discovers more on Lelouch's Geass ability?

but I'm honestly just... not very interested in translating L&G at all. (As I explained in the May 30th post, and I'm pretty sure I've also addressed on Tumblr.)

I'm working full-time and I'd rather translate something for the novels when I have a spare moment, or translate something from the audio dramas, or work on my Let's Play of Lost Colors which has sat abandoned for far too long. I could also start translating Oz of the Reflection, or the CG databook that a nice person made scans of and has generously given me access to.

Also, I wouldn't just want to translate these random chapters, I'd want to translate it from the beginning, which would require going to mononoke-no-ko for raws, since Comic NewType is no longer hosting them. It's a whole process to try and catch up, which makes it ever more daunting to take on.

There's still the slim chance that I might take this on out of boredom, but getting these comments on everything else I do is honestly just discouraging me even more. :( I don't know how much clearer I can be!

well, could you at least be able to get the raws themselves just in case those chapters will be either removed later, or that only the first few pages of them are there but the rest are removed?

I'm still not interested in translating this manga, though. Not for free. If someone wants to commission it, that would be different. :) But for free, I am doing things that interest me personally. I hope that makes sense.
