The word 費やす can also be translated as 'to devote', but between her expression and her trembling hand, I get the strong sense that Nunnally means she wants to be fully consumed by this task... which also ties in with previous sentiments she's expressed in the series about feeling like she doesn't have much to offer. So, the sentiment is more or less: 'I want to give everything I have until there's nothing left of me, because that's the only way I can hope to meaningfully contribute to the world.' This is how Nunnally will be 'selfish'. ↩
2 Another guess on the name, plus a guess on pluralization! This could refer to a single unit, or multiple. It could also be a KMF, or a more standard aircraft, as CG uses the same word for both. ↩
3 マンボ隊 here is clearly the name of some sort of unit, not dissimilar from Zero's units (one of which Kallen captained in the first season). I tend to think it's 'Mamba' and a reference to the type of snake, but we'll see. ↩
