<TO BE CONTINUED in PART 4>
1 Specifically an archaeological site, the location of ruins, etc. ↩
2 Obviously Lelouch isn't literally disappearing, this sound effect is just trying to convey that he's dropping out of view. ↩
3 Same word that Shamna keeps using, but in いても tense. C.C. sounds like she's talking about the Zero Requiem and what might be called Lelouch's "botched" death — but she might also be talking about not having been able to restore Lelouch's consciousness yet. ↩
4 This (捻じ曲げる) is the same verb often used to discuss Lelouch's geass: twisting, distorting, perverting people's will. ↩
5 C.C.'s wording here is, I think, meant to sound rather like a parent chiding a child. ↩
6 シュン is a sound effect for looking (emotionally) wounded. When you sink in on yourself and feel bad. Usually the result of being talked down to or hurt by someone else's words. ↩

(Anonymous) 2020-12-27 06:41 am (UTC)(link)I'm not sure what they're doing with the schedule though it has been nice having it be somewhat regular if with shorter chapters.
I'll fully admit I was completely caught off guard going through the raw when Lelouch fell. I thought it was just a small tumble or something then scrolled to the next page and there's this huge drop and a blood splatter.
This does confirm, in the continuity at least I guess, that Lelouch's body is immortal and heals. I feel like they were never exactly clear whether he had the benefit at all, though given how screwed up C's World is I suppose the main risk is there may come a time when it doesn't work anymore. It's definitely interesting seeing C.C. here compared to how she was at the start of the series.
Is this also the first time they've actually depicted the healing process at all? I feel like anytime it happened it always was offscreen or we just saw them get back up a bit later. Never actually seeing the wounds closing up.

- Heh, I kind of agree. Also, this is going to be an absolute monster of a chapter when it's finished, I think we're already in excess of 40 pages here.
- Yeah, I've heard a variety of theories, including that one: that his Code is messed up in some way, and might just stop working at any point without warning. We'll see if the manga addresses that at all. (Also maybe it moves on his body as the movie goes on? But that might also have been inconsistent animation? I honestly haven't seen the movie and wasn't inclined to, whoops haha.)
- I think you may be right about that. CG has a fair amount of on-screen injury and blood, but it's never been especially graphic about it, more the same sort of way that the Joker's "magic trick" was filmed in The Dark Knight; sound effects, musical stings, but the camera cuts away, and the resulting bloody mess on an immortal is mostly covered by hair or clothing. I believe the wound C.C. exposes on Lelouch's head here is meant to be showing skull, which is definitely not something the show ever did. (Otherwise it would be dark, like the blood in the panel.)

(Anonymous) 2020-12-28 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)The location looks about right from the glimpse here compared to the movie. It's always around that location and doesn't really change to another spot of the body at all.
Yeah, I can't recall it ever really showing gore or anything like that. It was always just lots of blood and sometimes a hole if someone was shot in the head or something but never super detailed.

Of course there were Chapter 3 and 4. I couldn't have translated them otherwise. 😉
But NewType doesn't keep all of the chapters online at once. Often they only have the first couple and then the most recent couple. That's what you're seeing on their official site.

CC certainly has changed a lot from how she was at the beginning of the series. She goes from being lazy, aloof, and selfish, not even willing to cook for herself. Now she takes care of Lelouch as tenderly as if he were a baby, even cooks for him everyday like it was Christmas.

(Doubtful, if the ambiguity was intentional.)

At that time I was thinking that maybe I only comment on the first and at the last chapter, which I had to caught up. To sum it there up. But in the end, I did it at every chapter - that was a little "flood" of comments (over a week or so). ^^'
But I´m grateful for all your doings. And you put your time and love into it. :)
Ok
