[TRANSLATED] CODE GEASS: Lelouch of the Re;surrection (Chapter 10, Pt 1)

Original Scans: courtesy of Comic NewType

NADIRA
What is it?

SHALIO
Nothing. There've been more of those lately, haven't there.

NADIRA
Oh, yes.
Due to the shortage of energy packs1...

NADIRA
Lord Forgnar is in the process of lobbying Indonesia2, but everyone has their hands full trying to rebuild their own countries3...

SHALIO
It all comes down to national strength, doesn't it...
All the more reason to ensure the success
of my sister's latest plan.

KALLEN
Are they gone?

C.C.
Yeah.

C.C.
They might get suspicious and double back,
but by then we should already be inside the Great Prison.

KALLEN
Hmm...

KALLEN
Well, I'm glad we ran into you!
You brought so much stuff with you.4
I bet there's nothing you didn't think of!

C.C.
I suppose.

C.C.
I thought I'd be able to find a way around having to wear these clothes, though.

KALLEN
...What I said before—
I'm sorry.

C.C.
...

KALLEN
That Lelouch, heh.
He was always so self-aware, so self-confident. Too self-aware and too self-confident. I really couldn't stomach it.
But—

KALLEN
That's exactly why
I was able to believe in him back then.

KALLEN
And why... it's been so hard to see him like this.
Which is me being selfish.
Just... absolutely self-centered.

C.C.
Thanks, Kallen.

C.C.
But when you get right down to it,
it was the geass I gave him that started all of this.

C.C.
I'm the one who...

KALLEN
There. That's your punishment for trying to do this all by yourself.
No more grim talk.
Now, off to that "Aram Gate", or whatever it's called.

KALLEN
Let's go!

CODE GEASS
Lelouch of the Re;surrection

KALLEN
So, we're headed for that Great Prison, right?
How come this Aram Gate thing's in a place like that?

C.C.
You've got it backwards.
The temple was there first.

KALLEN
Ohh...

LLOYD
Because of the unique topography, right?

LLOYD
And now they've turned it into a prison!
A prison for brigands and political offenders and—

LLOYD
Uwah?!

SAYOKO
My apologies, Dr. Asplund.

SAYOKO
We'll be arriving shortly.

KALLEN
As long as we can access this "World of C" place, we'll be able to bring Lelouch back...

C.C.
It's possible, that's all.

KALLEN
...

C.C.
We're talking about a glimmer of hope.
But it's still worth a try.

SOLIDER 1
Political offenders and terrorists, huh?
Hmm,
and they're going to the substratum block?

SAYOKO (disguised)
Discreetly, please.
These worms have been a nuisance to the Order5.
They'll have been executed within the week.

LELOUCH
Ah— Ahhhh!

SOLDIER 2
!

SOLDIER 2
What's wrong with him?

SAYOKO (disguised)
Pay him no mind.
Looks like they misjudged his dosage6.

PRISONER
Hey, look! Fresh meat!

PRISONERS
What're you guys in for?!
Ooh, women! Women!
C'mere, let's have some fun!

PRISONER
Got a real loser between you, don'tcha? C'mon, give us a turn!7

SAYOKO (disguised)
Dr. Asplund.

SAYOKO (disguised)
We've reached the lower level.
I'd like to get to work before the medical examination8. How are the cameras coming along?

LLOYD
Too bad! They're fine.
The false footage replacement is already complete.

SAYOKO
All right, everyone.
It's all set9.

SOLDIER 2
Hmm?
What's all set—

SAYOKO
Your assistance was appreciated.

PRISONERS
Hey now!
They really did it!

PRISONER
Heheh...
Idiots.

PRISONER
You know you can't escape, right?
I'm telling you, it's futile!
What're you gonna do about the monitors?

C.C.
Take this.

PRISONER
Hey, hold on. Ain't this the key...?
What, you're telling us to break out?

C.C.
What you do with that is up to you.

PRISONER
<hearty laughter>
Interestin'.
All right, shall we?!
Let's beat those bastard guards 'til they stop breathin'!

1 Pack, not filler. I wonder what the difference is.
2 This must be the "them" from that previous chapter. Good to know Indonesia's a superpower here...?
3 Not literally "everyone", of course; Nadira is being hyperbolic with どこも.
4 お前たち is being rather generous to Lelouch here, though I guess C.C. did literally have him carry things. Also 色々 here conveys both a lot of things and an assortment of things. I think Kallen means both.
5 Definitely specifically the Geass Order again, just dropping "Geass" from its name.
6 How nice of Sayoko to put 薬 in katakana so that there's no doubt she means "drug" instead of "medicine".
7 The verb here is 遊ぶ, in a pushy invitational form.
8 Could also be "search" or "frisk", but honestly why would that not have been done before they were allowed in? So, medical examination.
9 Lit. "the preparations are OK", but that sounds wild in English. "The preparations are complete" would also work, but then the soldier's asking "what's complete?" and that seems a little too clueless, even for this guy.
